“Together companies, businesses, and patrons have made a commitment to bring healthy, nutritious, flavorful beef to the students of Bruning-Davenport. This program will provide educational components to help students understand the nutritional value of beef, an understanding of crop production an the feed raised to feed the animals, as well as an understanding of farm to fork.”
The school will be serving Nebraska grown beef two times per week. Processed beef will be in the form of ground beef, roasts, stew meat, and deli meat.
School administration, the school board, and cooks are all in support of this program.
The program will provide students an opportunity to see firsthand the impact of the beef industry and crop production in Nebraska and gain an understanding of how each functions in our communities.
Money the school will be saving by implementing this program will go towards supporting the FFA greenhouse in their efforts to grow produce for the salad bar and for purchasing other food items locally whenever possible.
High-quality, good tasting, Nebraska raised beef that students will enjoy for lunch.
Students will have the opportunity to learn more about nutrition and lifelong healthy eating habits.
Students’ names will be entered in a monthly drawing for charburgers and beef drafts to be used at Bruning Grocery.
Students will gain understanding of the importance of animal and crop production in Nebraska and throughout the globe.
Monetary donations can be made to the Bruning or Davenport Community Foundations in the name of the Bruning-Davenport Beef Boosters Club.
Donors will be invited to a program kickoff hamburger feed at the school each year.
Donors will receive a program window sticker and be recognized in the school newsletter and on the website.
Donors will have their name(s) listed on a program banner that will be displayed in both schools.
